The Pelagic Planer features a black anodized flat finish. This finish drastically reduces losing planers to toothy critters like wahoo and barracuda due to the shiny standard finish. We have also noticed an increase in catches using the black planer aboard the “Lisa B”. We use the #4 planer on the long rod and the #6 on the short rod in the morning when the fish are up higher in the water column. During hotter times of the day, we switch to a #4-6 on the long and a #8 on the short rod to get the baits down into the cooler water. The Pelagic Planer brings the bait down when in the set position.
